RENT

We all went to see RENT last night after a little bit of food recovery time.

For the past three Thanksgivings or XMases we have gone out to catch a movie after the festivities. Every year something has happened at the theatre - the first year it was just closed, last year they evacuated the theatre just as we were driving up, and this year we actually got into the theatre and were ten minutes into the movie when the emergency lights went on.

They evacuated us!

Someone pulled the alarm! It was freezing out and so overall not a pleasant experience - lol.

I don’t know if you can see in the picture but there were so many people just standing around outside waiting to get back in. Fun!
We eventually got back in and watched the movie.

I don’t want to compare it to the play because they are two different mediums but I will say this - RENT the movie. . .not great. Good - not great.
ok - I do have to make one quick comparison. Did anyone notice how in the Tengo Maureen Jo-Anne called the engineer a ‘he’ and not a ’she’? What’s up with that? Weird!

Anyway. . .we fly home tomorrow. I’m going to go enjoy the last few mins with the fam.

I hope everyone’s holiday went well!

Hey handsome! Sorry I haven’t been commenting in a long time.. my life has been going kinda crazy in recent months hehe.

Anyway, yeah it is hard to compare a movie to a stage production.. that’s why in some ways I liked “Phantom of the Opera” in movie form, but it just doesn’t compare to the live experience… I haven’t seen the movie form of RENT yet, but I can’t wait!

Oh by the way.. happy Thanksgiving… heheh I love Holy Grail too ;).

    Hey Laakapu!

Life, in general, is crazy! Good to hear from you again.

I hope you had a great holiday! I hope to hear from you again SOON :)

I noticed the gender switch, too. I think it was (for once) to cut down some confusion. In the stage version, when Joanne says “she,” it could be interprested that she’s speaking of Maureen.

Well, I am glad that you, um, liked(??) it?! Sorry you had to be interrupted like that though… ugh!

No, I did like it. Could they have done a better job - probably - but it was money well spent nonetheless.
