Where have I been? Why has my blog been so quiet?
*sigh*
Let me count the ways…
1. I was preparing to move out of my apartment in DC.
2. I finished moving out of my apartment in DC.
3. I drove 9 hours (thanks to some friggin car accident in Maryland) to get to my parents’ house in MA.
4. I have been trying to find places in the spare room, basement, etc…at my parents’ place to store all my stuff.
5. I have been preparing to drive another 6-9 hours to get back to DC on Wednesday so I can…well, you will have to read the whole post to find out why I am going back to DC so soon.
1. Getting everything packed was a BITCH with a capital…no, with all capital letters. BITCH BITCH BITCH.
Every time I move I say the same thing - I never want to move again.
Somehow I always end up moving. I’m a friggin nomad – seriously.
But this move was different from all my others.
In every move I’ve had before this, I lugged more and more stuff with me. First it was my bed - then it was couches and my bed – then it was couches, my bed, and my entertainment center – etc, etc, etc…
This time I left it all behind. John and I worked out an agreement where he took almost 90% of everything. I have very few household items – certainly not enough to fill even the smallest of studios. And it was intentional.
You see, I am taking a page from Sun Tzu’s infamous “The Art of War.” Sun Tzu wrote of warrior leaders who would invade by sea and once on shore, set fire to their ships. All of the leader’s warriors would then know they had no exit strategy – they had to fight or die. And those being invaded knew their enemies meant business. By destroying their only means of retreat, the warriors could think of nothing but success. For if they didn’t succeed they would no longer be breathing and therefore would no longer be able to think!
Hence, my moving strategy - leave no exit.
From this point on – and especially from March 1st on – I can only succeed with MeetJustin.com. Unlike the warriors from the past I know my life wouldn’t be over if my company didn’t flourish, but similar to them I am putting my life, my reputation and honor, and everything that is me on the line.
And I will succeed!
2. While packing was a BITCH BITCH BITCH, moving all the crap was even more so.
Granted, I didn’t have ¼ of the stuff I had in any other move, but me being me I tried to fit everything in my tiny Jeep Wrangler.
That didn’t work so well. All I have to say is thank goodness for Andrew and Shauna. Andrew helped me lug and jam everything possible in my Jeep (with the overflow in his car) and Shauna graciously agreed to hold on to everything that didn’t fit in my Jeep until I could get back to DC and pick it all up.
What was taking up most of the space? Clothes. SHUT UP! I know…
I had three garbage bags full of shoes and over 20 bags full of clothes. See, I though it was a good idea to put everything in garbage bags because it would fit into my Jeep better than boxes.
Um yeah, what was I thinking? Even in garbage bags it still wasn’t all fitting.
But everything found a home – one way or another. And my pre-ulcer healed up nicely.
Again, thank you Andrew and Shauna. I can’t even begin to tell you how much your help meant to me!
3. You have all heard this before – but my ass KILLED me from that drive. I am NOT looking forward to doing it again so soon… ![]()
4. I love my mom. She is totally undiagnosed OCD. Well, that’s what we (everyone in my family) joke with her about.
She has a place for everything – though she generally forgets where those places are – and hates when things are hanging around or out of order.
So I had to spend a good amount of time making sure the stuff I am storing here was out of sight and mind. Tucked under beds, in the cellar, packed in boxes against the guest room wall…you get the idea.
5. And then there was another 6-9 hours.
Yes, I will wake up in a few short hours to make the trip all the way back to DC.
Why?
Well, Thursday morning I am leaving for M-I-A-M-I! WOHOO!
I will be spending Thursday-Saturday basking in the Miami sun and grooving to the Miami sound machine (and no, not Gloria’s) only to jet off to Key West for Saturday/Sunday.
OMG – If I have ever needed a trip to Miami, this is it.
Andrew and I are going down to relax, drink it up, and hopefully find some cute boys!
I am so happy that Andrew and I have become such good friends. And in such a short time! We are going to tear up Miami – I’m so excited!!
After I return from Miami I am going to be doing some interviews in DC. More on that in a later post.
Just hang on a few more weeks! March 1st on I will have daily content that will hopefully knock your socks off. Or at least make you think…or laugh…or horny? Haha
I gotta cover every angle, right?!
Thanks everyone for stopping by even through these slow few weeks. My blog is still getting about 1,000 unique visitors a day!
I can’t wait to see what happens come March 1st!
Get ready for some scandalous material from Miami! ![]()

Best of luck. I’m rooting for you.
All I can say is … WOW … I hate moving, too, and remember each experience vividly. That’s why I hired movers to do EVERYTHING including packing when I moved to DC, of course my employer was paying for it.
I hope your weather is better in Miami than mine was. Florida will have a brief cold snap in winter every now and then, but the usually don’t last long.
Hope to see you on one of your stops back through DC. I’ll be watching, er, reading you!
Your Miami Marching Orders:
1) Relax and shake your bad thing.
2) Post lots of pictures of pretty boys (if you and Andrew happen to appear in any of those pictures, in various states of undress, I don’t think there will be many complaints from your loyal readers)
3) Start networking and spreading the word about MeetJustin.com. Make up some business cards and pass them out. (Sorry, that’s the publicist in me talking.)
4) More pretty boy pictures.
5) Usher some of the sun/heat in a northerly direction (Minnesota would be good)
6) Make with the pretty boy pix already!
Have fun!
Justin, have a great time in Miami. Sounds like you deserve it. I look forward to reading more from you, I check it every day. Have fun
Have a great time in Miami!!! Can’t wait to read/hear more on your travels and adventures. Good luck….I have my fingers crossed for ya.
Moving isn’t fun. I get to repeat your infamous phrase “BITCH, BITCH, BITCH!” I’m moving back into the city later on this month. The joys of moving. And you’re right! I have a lot more items than when I moved last!
Have a great time in Miami! Take lots of cute boy pic for all of us to enjoy! And push a cuban back onto a raft if you have a chance!
Let me know when you’re going to Chicago! I’m up for that!
Sun Tsu. Right idea. Really great book. (I actually have three copies of it at home and one at work).
Enjoy Miami and Key West - I’m pretty sure you will
Not sure where you’re staying in Key West but I stayed at the Island House once and had a great time!
Looking forward to your posts in March (I’ll be on the Atlantis cruise March 5- 11 so probably won’t comment from out at sea - but who knows LOL)
Let the adventure begin!
Thanks everyone for the comments! I made it through the move and am not at my best friends place in DC for the next few weeks.
My trip to Miami and Key West was a blast - be posting on it as soon as I catch up on emails!
