Insurance - YAY!

» by Justin in: My Life

Remember when I wrote this post about getting temporary insurance until I got REAL health insurance.

Well, FINALLY I have REAL insurance! YAY!

I still can’t believe it took this long! But it is better than I thought - there is no 180 day waiting period for preventative care only a 10 month waiting for pre-existing conditions.

Lucky for me I’m a young strapping buck. Yehaw.

I have asthma but it is excercised induced which means I need to use an inhaler right before I work out (or if I laugh too much - weird I know!).

I haven’t even told you the best part…instead of being $180 like I thought - it’s only $130 a month. Holy flippin crap! That’s $50! A month! This is excitement!

So that’s my insurance news. I can break something now and not go bankrupt!

Beyond insurance, I have been flippin busy the past few days since I got to my parents house. I have unloaded all my stuff in the basement and spare room for storage, taken a trip to the mall in 6 inches of snow to check out cellular modems for my laptop and to buy a digital voice recorder, and worked on setting up some interviews and lodging up and down the east coast.

SNAP - This is tough work! :)
Now with the digital video recorder I will have the ability to audio record the interviews for podcasting as well as creating my own podcast while on the road.

I’m looking into the cellular modem because while on the road it will be necessary to have internet access everywhere I go. I’m worried that if I get out into the midwest or into rural areas I may not have any access.

No access = no posting = not good!

OK - so much to do and so little time. Being home is like a buffer period before I start out into the unknown.

It’s like training wheels before I really start my trip - haha!

I hope you all have been enjoying the interview stuff. Let me know - I need some feedback!

“I’m worried that if I get out into the midwest or into rural areas I may not have any access.”

That made me laugh, cute city boy. I wouldn’t worry too much, if there’s a Starbucks in a state, I doubt it will be too difficult to find an internet connection somewhere.

Also, as far as your interviews go, after you have posted each segment of a video what are you going to do with them? I imagine you will leave them up, but I’d suggest combining them together (so people can watch the whole interview at once) or at least group them in the same post so that it cuts down on navigation time when people want to check out old interviews. Just a thought.

But I’m worried about having to pay a bazillion dollar for internet access along the way and then having to be constrained to sit in a Starbucks all day. That would stink (like coffee)!

As far as interview navigation there are a few ways to approach it. If someone likes a certain interviewee they could type their name in the search box on my blog and it would pull up all their interviews.

The other option is what you suggested - put them all together in one link. I am thinking about doing that with pages.

Check out this link - http://gay.meetjustin.com/?page_id=9 - and let me know what you think. Does this work?

Works for me, will there (or are there already) transcripts of the interviews for those that would prefer reading rather than listening/watching? Maybe that’s too much, I’m not sure. Anyway, keep up the good work. I’m looking forward to hearing/seeing more.

Whereas David offers insightful and articulate suggestions on how best to improve an awesome website, I choose instead to focus my attention on the following claim/allegation/embellishment/falsehood: “Lucky for me I’m a young strapping buck.” LORD! After I picked myself up off the floor, I noticed that, as if to accentuate the point with a circular fling of the hat and a thrust of your butt, you added: “Yehaw.” Nice touch!

David - I just checked out the prices for transcripts and they are $5 a minute! YOUCH! It looks like no transcripts for now unless someone out there is willing to do it on a volunteer basis ;) haha

Andrew - At least I don’t have lawyer butt. :P
