The LCRs are giving their first ever David Brudnoy Award to columnist and blogger Andrew Sullivan.
According to wiki:
Andrew Sullivan, Ph.D. (born August 10, 1963) is an English-American journalist, blogger and former editor of The New Republic, known both for his heterodox personal-political identity (HIV-positive, gay, conservative, and practicing Roman Catholic) and for his efforts in the field of blog journalism. Sullivan has described himself as being a South Park Republican, a phrase he coined in 2001 and which has gained considerable currency since.
Yesterday, V. Gene Robinson said he carries Sullivan’s “A Conservative Case for Gay Marriage” with him always. Many other speakers have mentioned him throughout their speeches. Clearly, the gays love him. haha
I’ve never seen Sullivan in person - or heard his speak - only read his stuff. I’m not sure but he sounds Australian. Let me google that…nope…he’s English.
He’s speaking about David Brudnoy, who was a very popular gay conservative radio show host in New England, and how his life and the lessons drawn from it can help gay conservatives and republicans in their struggles for equal rights.
He just finished - It’s was a very sweet speech and one that I’m sure David Brudnoy would be honored by. You can read more about it on BoiFromTroy.

Sullivan is really just blowing spoke right now. His disappointment at the Bush administration and I guess Republicans (though he has difficulty going that far) is the result of ignorance to begin with. He supported Bush for way too long and only got real after it was way too late. I never understood his selective acceptance of what Republicans stand for. If you are a Lincoln Republican, then Sullivan should start his own party (Lincoln is dead in case he doesn’t know).
Get real, your enemies are your enemies. You cannot lie in bed with them and then wonder what happened after they shoot you.
Hey Jerry!
I don’t know the whole history of Sullivan - and it seems very controversial.
I heard conservatives praising him up and down and others showing contempt. It made for a very interesting situation, being as I only know OF him but don’t really know enough about him to add to the conversation.
I’ve got some research to do for sure!
Thanks for commenting!
