Hey everyone! What a great few days it has been
I got to PTown yesterday afternoon, unpacked my Jeep, and spent some time talking to Richie - the owner of the Officers Quarters and Prince Albert. He told me his partner Mark was coming up with all of the furniture for my room around 7-8pm.
“Well, that gives me plenty of time to go for a run,” I think to myself.
And then I get lost. OK - not so much lost (you can’t really get lost here) as confused. I missed one turn and ended up taking the longest road EVER.
10 miles (and one shot knee) later I got back to Commercial Street. OUCH! My shower helped a bit but not much.
Once Mark got here we hoisted all the stuff up into the loft of the Officers Quarters - my new room - and I left it for the night. haha I was hungry dammit!

I made my way over to Betsy’s (I’ve raved about it many times before) for dinner but this time ate at the bar. How fun!
That’s where I got my first sort of “night job” offer. You see, it’s common for people who live here to find out you are here for the summer and ask if you have a night job. If you say “no” then they usually know someone or somewhere that is looking for help and let you know how to get in touch with them.
This one was a little different. This guy Eddie is a director in town looking to fill a lead in a play he is directing. He asked me to audition! haha Well, he asked if I had acting experience (I had one class in college) and then asked me to audition.
I’m still thinking it over.
When Eddie left I ended up meeting this girl Toni and her cousin Dave. Toni is a lesbian and David is up here helping her do some electrical work on her condo. They were both a hoot - especially Toni - such great people to talk to! I got Toni’s number so I’m sure I will be running into her again many times this summer.
From there I went to the A-House and met the new door man for the summer Louie. He and his partner of something like 8 years broke up so he moved up here to take over their PTown house and his partner got the one in Florida. Rough, I know!
I ended up talking to Louie and the door guy - who I love but can’t remember his name (which is terrible!) - for about an hour and then went home. After a long drive, a long run, and lots or moving I just wasn’t in the dancing mood.

Oh and I ran into one of the at Pied Bar I met last week, Ty, who also works at SNIP (a hair salon in town). He seems like a great guy and I predict we’ll become friends over the summer. He is really easy to talk to.
Then there was today. I got up and grabbed brunch at the Post Office Cafe and headed back to the OQ (Officer’s Quarters) to start cleaning and assembling my new room!
Well, that took the better part of a day let me tell you! Yikes! I haven’t done that hard core of a cleaning in eons. But I was very happy with the results ![]()
Here are some before & after shots of my living quarters. You can see all the pictures by clicking here.

Oh and this is my fridge/tv/computer area HAHA:

It looks so cute! I LOVE it! ![]()
So after this was all done I walked on down to the supermarket to pick up some stuff for my fridge and ran into Mark (from the OQ)! He offered to give me a ride back and I wasn’t going to argue with all the bags I would have had to carry!
At this point I was pooped. I went to Spiritus to grab some pizza to go and headed back to my cozy little room to relax.
And the fact I have to be up at 6:30am to get ready to put breakfast out was a big selling point on my getting to bed early! That’s BEYOND EARLY in my world.
So now I am off to bed. I’ll let you all know how my first half-day goes tomorrow. Should be fun! ![]()
Oh and P.S. - This is the view from ONE my skylights:

I’m a happy boy!

Hey Justin,
Dropped in from a Spiders web. I know it tells you where I came from but does it tell you how long I’ve been on your blog?
Well I came on at around 3 pm and I’m done right now. Read you from May 2005 til now. Even the blog for this morning is already read. I listened to all your podcast and watched the videos.
Cool stuff. Cool guy. Pretty cute too.
I will come back and give you feedback for sure.
Your Mr. M story, something happened to me but in reverse. And BTW there was no France trip.
Well take care for now. Have fun.
Keep up the good work.
Virtually yours,
Joel
PS: I’m a French Canadian from Montreal.
I heard the podcast in which you mentioned your room being a loft. The pictures in this post look really nice. Congrats on the job!
You’re just a little bundle of domesticity with that loft - I especially like the Ithaca throw over the futon. I can’t wait to hear how your first breakfast goes! Moons over My-hammy indeed!
I am so envoyous right now. I mean, it really becomes great when the weather kicks into high gear, but it sounds like the locals there have a good time all year round. Now the getting up at 6:30am thing…blech. But I bet it’s beautiful and quiet at that time.
Joel - WOW! I don’t think I’ve even done that! Granted, I wrote every one of the posts haha. Seriously though, I am flattered. I hope you enjoyed what you read and I do hope to hear from you more in the future. I’d like to hear how Montreal is treating you.
I L-O-V-E my new space. It’s great. Yay for PTown!!
Charles - Thanks buddy
Andrew - I had to read your comment like 5 times. No blatant insult?! WTF? I expected more from you…
haha
Atari - It was fucking beautiful today. A little cool but gorgeous. I don’t mind getting up at 6:30 because the sun streams in my skylights and by that time I am wide awake. It’s weird because I am SO not a morning person. It’s a little quiet but still plenty to do!
Glad to hear you are settling in!! Sounds great!
looks comfortable. i like! nice view too!
