Kayaking Extravaganza!

I’ve been kayaking TWICE in the past week. SO MUCH FUN.

As I podcasted about, I went home last weekend. As soon as I got back here I was planning on jumping back into work. I ended up still having that Monday off - a nice surprise! I went to the gym and relaxed. Ahhh…

This week Matt had a few days where he only needed to go in at 3pm so we got to spend some quality time together. This past Thursday we went kayaking around the bay, out to Long Point. (Click here to see the pics!)
We had a blast!

It was a little overcast, and we had a little tiff on the water going out, but all in all we had a great time.

We had fun with crabs, fish, and jelly fish. AND it was the first time I ever nude sunbathed. :) tee hee shhhhhh!
I had so much fun I decided to go again on my next day off, which was Sunday. And it was a GLORIOUS day. Perfect weather, perfect sun, and the tides were working with me both times so it wasn’t a hassle getting out and back in.

This time I didn’t pack my camera in the dry bag so I had it to take some good shots on the kayak. (You can check them out by clicking here.)

While I was on the beach I had some older guy checking me out the entire time. I was laying out and he kept smiling and winking at me and at one point make some head movement for me to follow him into the dunes. EWW!

I am NOT a dune bunny, thank you very much!

For those who don’t know, many people (straight and gay) like to go out to the dunes of PTown and have anonymous sex in the sand. Also available, but much less glamorous, is the “Dick Dock” which is under the deck of the Boatslip. It’s funny because the other night I had a table of guys who were joking with me about going to Dick Dock and I told them I had never been, that I wasn’t into anonymous sex. They told me to wear a name tag. HA!

In other news…Yesterday, I met up with my friend Josh who is visiting from NYC with some friends. (note my tan from kayaking…!) I keep forgetting to write about Josh. He keeps yelling at me for this. I’m sorry Josh!

I met Josh the day before my birthday, when Drew and Shauna were visiting. He was the boy who ended up taking me out on the day of my birthday. Awwww how sweet! He took me out to an amazing dinner at Edwidge at Night and gave me the best gift ever - a book on the founding fathers. Yes, I am a nerd.

Then we went to his room at the White Wind Inn and *ahem* watched “Walk the Line” - GREAT movie. Well, we actually did end up watching the whole movie - and it was worth staying up for.

In any event, Josh is the nicest guy and I’m glad we all got a chance to hang out last night. He’ll be here all week so we’ll be able to hang out again before he goes back to NYC.

Speaking of NYC…I am going to finish up this post (and one of Brennan’s world famous expresso martinis) and do some job hunting on line (see some more pics here…). It’s getting towards the end of the summer and I want to see what options are out there in the work world. I’m thinking NYC, Boston, Chicago, or LA. In that order. If you know of anything out there, let me know. I’m considering all options!

Hey Justin! I’m really glad to see you posting again and I particularly enjoyed listening to your latest podcast. But moreso, I’m really glad to see that despite some of your “concerns”, you’re giving this relationship with Matt a fair shake and allowing some time for things to develop between the two of you. In the pictures, you guys look really great together and I actually feel that it’s healthy that you don’t see life in exactly the same ways… it makes your conversations more dynamic and perhaps each of you are learning things that you never considered before. Awesome.

I know I don’t comment often at all, so I hope you make the most of your remaining time this summer in PTown. Matt seems like a genuinely good guy and I’m really happy to see that you were able to connect with someone so early on. All the best to you and continue keeping us updated.

    Hey David!

You are too sweet :) Thank you for the comment. Yes, things are going well with Matt thought he is currently making fun of me for calling him queeny on my podcast. He won’t let it go…hahaha

In any event, I’m glad you are checking in and enjoying. Thanks again for stopping by!!!! :)

ah … kayaking … sounds like fun. i’ve thought about giving it a shot in the potomac, but i can’t find anyone brave enough to do it with me. it’s not the “drowning” part, it’s just the “nasty river” part. wimps!

one of my good friends does consulting in chicago. not sure if that’s up your alley, but i’ll be happy to put you in touch with him.

stay cool … i see where it’s just as hot in boston as it is in DC today! yeesh!

If you go to the West Coast - I will kill you!

I like the espresso tini shot taken while you were composing - I picture you as the gay Ernest Hemingway of the blog world.

Taylor! I’ve rowed on the Potomac before. GROSS. There were dead fish and brown bubbly things floating along. Just WRONG! haha What exactly do you mean by consulting? This day and age that can mean SO much! Miss you!

Drew…I doubt Ernest Hemingway enjoyed an expresso martini, but I get the point. LOL Thanks. Can’t wait until you get out here!!

    Justin,

I recently left Chicago after a number of happy years there. I can highly reccomend the city. Tons of things to do, a great NPR station, huge gay scene, just the greatest city in the US. Also home of several poweral “policicos”.

Best of luck with your decision.
