“Walk Away”

His eyes are closed. His body is moving fast with the rhythm of the music. He is shirtless, arms in the air. He is spinning, clapping his hands.

He is 65 now. His hair grey, his body out of shape, but closing his eyes and dancing to the remix of the remake of Donna Summer’s “I feel love” makes him feel 22 again. He feels alive. He feels sexy. He feels love, just like Donna had.

The 20-somethings dancing around him couldn’t begin to understand the complexity of these feelings. In 40 years maybe, but not today.

He doesn’t care he is reliving one of his “Solid Gold Oldies” memories in their domain. He doesn’t care they don’t get “it” - whatever “it” is. His eyes closed, the music and the memories move him.

As “I feel love” begins to fade out, this feeling of being young and the memories from decades before fade with it. Soon Kelly Clarkson, a diva of this new era - of their domain – begs him to “Walk Away.” With the slightest hesitation, he obeys.

I say yay for him…..and I hope when he is 90 he can still spin and feel 40 and never loose the feeling of being young and alive.

Not if you keeping all of that fried chicken and ice cream, Justina. You may be able to fit in Star Jones’ dresses, and I mean her OLD dresses.
