Shauna and Drew Come To Visit (…Again!)

Rainy day in PTown

The internet in PTown sucks. It just sucks.

Apparently, when it rains here all the DSL lines get logged and connection to the internet slows to nothing and/or you just don’t get a signal. Sucks.

I spent about an hour or two yesterday just trying to check my site, email, and put up my traffic reports. That’s all. GRRRR!

Andrew, me, Shauna @ the Wave Bar

In any event, rewind to this past weekend: Shauna (my best friend from high school until present) & Drew’s (my best gay friend who is from DC) visit.

It was a wild & crazy weekend – so much fun and debauchery!

The visit started with Matt guiding Shauna and Drew to my place to park and then bringing them to my restaurant to eat. Since they were dorks and had already eaten on the road they weren’t that hungry. Whatev… ;)

Me, Drew, Shauna, Matty @ my work, Grand Central!

But of course, they had room for drinks ;)
By the time I got off work everyone was tired and I was worried the night would turn out to be a dud – boy was I wrong!

We left my restaurant and headed to the Grotto Bar @ Enzo’s. I had never been there and to my surprise it was very chill. They even made espresso martinis! Delicious!

A sip into our drinks this band started playing that, and I quote Drew here, “sounded like a puppet being strangled and forced to sing.” I could tell Shauna was on the road to a migraine if we didn’t leave soon! Good thing I got an extra shot of Bailey’s for my martini!!

We left the Grotto Bar and headed to the Wave Bar @ the Crown & Anchor. It’s free and I knew they would have the video wall going so there might be some good music to dance to. Eh. Mostly 80’s music with some good new ones mixed in.

Patty (my next door neighbor growing up!!!), Me @ the Wave Bar

The weirdest thing in the WHOLE WORLD happened while we were there. Shauna and I left Drew & Matt to talk a bit and walked towards the beach in the back. As we’re standing there I hear, “Hey Justin!” I looked and it was Rob, the partner of Matt the Peckers bartender on Tuesday nights. He starts introducing people and as I turn to look at the next person I realize it’s my mom & dad’s next door neighbor.

Patty. I babysat her kids! OMG.

She was visiting her gay best friend who lived in town. OMG. I almost died. She looked fab! She was a little…um…er…tipsy (read drunk)…but the whole moment was so surreal that I didn’t pay too much attention. We caught up a bit (as much as two drunk people can) and headed back to Matt and Drew.

Spiritus @ night

My mom got a kick out of that 12:30am phone call HAHAHA!

We closed the Wave Bar and headed up to Spiritus where we again ran into Patty and her friends. We also ran into someone who knew someone Shauna and I went to high school with. RANDOM.

Random pic from the street

Matt and I walked Shauna and Drew back to my little cottage where they were staying (stopping along the way to talk to every one and their mother…I’m talkative when I’m drunk) and made plans for Saturday.

Saturday morning rolls around and I walk over to pick up Shauna & Drew so we can head over to Café Heaven for some brunch and then head out on the open waters for our kayaking extravaganza.

Me (adjusting to the freezing water and jelly fish) @ the beach

We had SUCH a great time at brunch which was topped off by an even more amazing time kayaking. Seriously, some of the best fun I’ve had all season. We kayaked out to Long Point and layed out, got some sun, did a little video (which I’ll post after this post), swam with the jellyfish (they aren’t venomous but are so gross and EVERYWHERE) and then kayaked all the way back.

Drew...working on vacation? Lawyers...

I know, I know…I bet you are wondering how Drew managed to be outside this whole time without turning into dust. He is, after all, a vampire. First of all, he was in daywalker mode. Second of all, he quickly grabbed my laptop when we got back and proceeded to spend “three solid hours” which was really like four hours doing his “lawyer work.” It sustains his life force. That and anything “barely legal” HAHAHAHA.

While Drew was busy working, Shauna and I headed to the Wet Spot for some libations. Matt was working Tea Dance so my best friend and I got some time to talk and catch up. It was so nice. I had missed her to death.

Bailey's @ the Wet Spot

About two drinks in Matt came running up to us to let us know someone was interested in donating some money to my site so I could keep going on my trip. You can see the result of that here. Oh well - we were excited for the moment!

After Matt got off work he headed home to change and pick up Drew (who was doing work at his place).

Matt - dinner @ Lorraine's

Shauna and I were on drink four before we got the call that they were at the restaurant. :) We finished up at the Wet Spot and headed over to Lorraine’s for dinner.

Dinner at Lorraine’s is always amazing. And the Sangria (which I’ve mentioned time and time again) is heaven. After eating and many rounds of drinks, we headed back to the Wet Spot.

Shauna, Drew, Brennan @ the Wet Spot

I didn’t remember this until I saw the pictures…LOL

From there we decided to forgo Lady Bunny at the A-House – we figured it would be too packed – and went to the Wave Bar yet again. More video wall…more dancing. We met up with two of my good lesbian friends Chrissy and Amanda, who I haven’t seen in ages, and had some more drinks!

Drew, Eddie - necking?

While Shauna and I were dancing, Amanda and Chrissy kissing, and Matt dancing on the bar, Drew had found a boy toy and went off to play…both with the boy and his blackberry! I have photographic evidence!

Shauna and I ended up going around to the Paramount and dancing until the last played, Matt got a threesome proposal, and Drew went home with his boy toy Eddie.

Matt blowing up Shauna's temporary bed!

Matt, Shauna, and I headed back to Matt’s apartment because we were too lazy and drunk to walk all the way to my cottage to drop her off.

For the first time in MONTHS I just got sick. The hard liquor, sangria, beer, hard liquor, and beer (mixed in that order) along with my meal, found a new home. Mostly in the toilet. Mostly…

The next morning I get a frantic call from Drew. “Perchance, have you seen my wallet?”

Oy.

Needless to say, this story ends with Shauna and Drew not being able to fly home because Drew lost everything in his wallet including his ID.

Leaving brunch @ Edwige

Long story short – after brunch they left PTown around 3:30-4:00pm…got stuck in Cape Cod traffic…drove to Boston to get a new rental…started driving to DC but got stuck in a monsoon in Connecticut…then witnessed the right lane of 95 south wash away in a landslide…and finally got home, in DC, around 5am.

Shauna called in sick and Drew went to work on 2 hours sleep.

Me, Shauna - Saying Goodbye :(

As Drew said when I talked to him yesterday, “We always have fun when were are in PTown…it’s the getting there and back parts that are NEVER fun.”

I miss them both terribly already :(
And that’s the weekend. If you read all the way down to here you’re a champ! haha

The end :)

Me (kiss it!) @ the beach
