A Party, A Crash, A Dinner, Another Party, and Miami

» by Justin in: My Life

What a weekend.

Friday was Shauna’s work holiday party. She works for a plumbing company. She invites me to the holiday party. Think about that for a minute.

Justin meet plumbers, plumbers MeetJustin.

Now, add in an open bar, a dance floor, and a live band. *slaps head*

I managed to drink FOUR (4) Long Island Iced Teas, dance with about every girl in the building, and get strangled.

Yes, strangled.

Well, maybe just choked. But close enough. A man Shauna works closely with (who will remain nameless for Shauna’s sake) - who KNOWS I am gay - threatened to kill me if I continued to hit on his wife.

Yeah, it makes me laugh too. Um, I told her she looked like Ginger Spice. Ok and after THREE Long Islands I told her she had an amazing chest. WHICH SHE DID!

Then came the strangling/choking.

We closed the party and after dropping off another couple, headed back to DC at about 1am. It was Shauna, me, Bobbi, and her husband Dana.

After dropping me off in Chinatown, and Shauna off at home, Bobbi and Dana headed back to home in Maryland. Dana was the designated driver.

Some time after 2am a drunk driver going the opposite way on Route 4 crossed over the median and hit them. Dana swerved to miss getting hit head on. When he swerved the drunk driver hit the middle of their Expedition so hard it caused them to roll over 3 times and land in a ditch on the side of the road.

They landed on Bobbi’s side of the car. Amazingly, Dana was only scratched up and Bobbi had minor injuries. Well, she has glass embedded all over her body, a concusion, bruises just about everywhere, and has been in the hospital since. Maybe not minor, but she survived.

The drunk driver didn’t even have a scratch.

*sigh* I’m just glad they are both ok. It’s weird to think it happened right after we got dropped off. Since the back of the car was completely crushed in, Shauna and I would most likely be dead if it had happened while we were with them.

It made for a crazy Saturday. After visiting Bobbi in the hospital we had a pre-birthday Dinner for Drew at his parents. It was great to get to meet them, his brother, and some friends of his I had yet to meet. We had a great time.

Sunday was my friend Winston’s holiday party. It was supposed to be 2-6 in the afternoon but somehow I managed to get home at 2am. It was great - I met a bunch on new people and even got a date out of it ;) haha

Well, I must have had about 6 beers there, then went with my friend Nate and his boyfriend Shawn to Austin Grill in Downtown Silver Spring. We had to have the Margaritas. Oy. And Nachos. mmmm.

But it didn’t stop there. Then we went to some sports bar to have even more beer. And spicy wings. mmmm spicy… At that point I was hitting on some “straight” guy who claimed to be ex-military and whose triceps were as big as my head. What the hell?!

Thanks to Nate I made it home safely. But more importantly, ALONE! hahahaha

OK Yikes - I’m running late! I’m off to the gym now and then to a friend’s house for dinner. I’m leaving for Miami with 11 other people on Thursday for Drew’s birthday. OMG I cannot wait!!!!

hey, you’re giving me a run for my money with all the jet setting, excitement, and booze-filled days detailed in this post. sounds like a lot of fun. glad that there were no permanent injuries from the crash. it reminds me why i appreciate living in a dense, walkable city where you can go out and not worry about driving home.

i’ll be down in Miami in early January for work. I just got to Phoenix, which is nice in the daytime but cool at night.

    Miss ya!
