Trip to Miami Day 4 - Goodbye and Standby…

» by Justin in: My Life, Gay
Scott and Drew - At the beach before we leave Miami :(

Now Sunday was a rough - no, ROUGH - morning. We all got up before 10am to make our check out time which means some of us only got 4 hours of sleep. Regardless, I think we were all feeling tired and haggard. You know, kinda like Britney’s coot.

After being in Miami all weekend it decided to get super sunny and gorgeous about 4 hours before we were going to leave. We headed to the beach to soak it up for about 10 minutes.

Stephanie and her warm, moist muffin! - At brunch before we leave Miami :(

My eyelids were sticking together because I was so dehydrated. We headed off to brunch and chowed down big time. OMG food never felt so good. You should have see the size of Stephanie’s muffin. Yeah, it was huge. And delicious apparently.

After brunch I decided I was going to switch my flight from the last flight out to the flight most everyone else was going on. My logic - I had things to do at home, I had no money to spend on anything else in Miami, and knowing my luck the last flight out would somehow combust and I would never get home. I called American and they said to check in and go on standby.

Watching as someone's luggage falls off and gets run over at MIA

Well, I did. We all got to the airport and checked our bags and sat together waiting to see if I would get on their flight. In the mean time we witnessed someone’s suitcase fall off one of those baggage trolley things and explode all over the runway. Everyone laughed because it looked JUST like my bag. It was classic.

Their flight came and went. I “rolled over” to standby on the next flight out.

That flight came and went. I “rolled over” to standby on the next flight out.

That flight came and went. I, again, “rolled over” to standby on the next flight out.

Now, this was the 7:40pm flight. One flight before my original flight out. At this point I basically wasted an entire day in Miami in the airport.

I looked up at the screen and saw I was next on the standby list. If one person didn’t get on, I was in.

FINALLY, they called my name. I got a seat and flew home two hours early. It wasn’t the 3pm flight like I wanted, but I was home before 11pm.

But it’s not over. Oh no.

I get home to find my car broken into. I have a soft top Jeep and someone sliced the back right window open to steal the XMAS present Shauna had gotten me last year. It was one of those car jumper/light/tire inflater things.

In true criminal fashion, they didn’t steal the cords to go with it. So basically it’s a five pound battery that will soon lose power and be worthless without the cords. *slaps forehead*

So now I have a duct taped window. TOTALLY classy.

And that was my trip to Miami. I’m still recovering…

Aw, looks like you had a blast in Miami. Sorry I missed it all! It also sounds like you have as much luck flying as I do. Whenever I go anywhere I allow an extra day for travelling just because I know I will get stuck somewhere! haha…. Happy New Year Jus!

Thanks Taylor! Luckily it was just the back window so that’s all I need to get replaced. I want to do it soon so I can sell the damn thing. I’m done with having a car in the city!

Happy New Year to you as well Daniel!!

Danny boy - Sorry we missed each other. I hope you had a great new years celebration. I hope to see you this year! It’s been too long.
